Ticket from Faroes game Peterson Scores for Faroes

Faroe Islands 2-2 Scotland: Scotland started the road to Portugal with an away game to the Faroe Islands. This was a 2-2 draw, which is regarded as Scotland's worst football score ever. Truth be told we didn't deserve to even draw with them, they were unlucky  with their constant attacks and Lambert's goal was nothing more than a lucky deflection. One half of me wants another game quick but the other hopes the team never play again if this will come regularly.

Iceland 0-2 Scotland: Next, Scotland played Iceland in what appeared to be a difficult game. Scotland, however took control, early on, with a goal from "fucking" Dailly after 7 minutes. Gary Naysmith scored our second to give us a surprising but very positive 2-0 win in Reykjavik. This result has put a lot of confidence into the Tartan Army and may have kept Herr Vogts his job.

Scotland 2-1 Iceland: After Scotland's win in Iceland we faced Iceland again - this time at home. Scotland managed a 2-1 victory after Iceland's equaliser. The winner was headed in by Dundee's (or Rangers'!) Lee Wilkie - a surprising scorer but naebody's complaining!

This game certainly wasn't a walkover and we could maybe consider ourselves a wee bit lucky not to have conceded a penalty. Iceland had always threatened with their counter-attack and this got them their equaliser. At the end of the day, however, Scotland won with a decent performance and topped the group, after Germany's draw with Lithuania.

Scotland have a wee bit fun Goalscoarer Wilkie celebrates?

Lithuania 1-0 Scotland: so, we beat Iceland and topped the group - did we get on with it and claim 1st place? Nae chance, we're Scotland! We played Lithuania away and got off to a good start. We started where we left off against Iceland and came out attacking the opposition, despite the home side having heavily watered the wings of the pitch, knowing Scotland's wide attacking style. This blatant cheating was allowed, as was the dive for Lithuania's penalty, which they scored the game's only goal from. Gallacher got a hand to Razanauskas' penalty, after Maciulevicius' dive. The Lithuanian coach and players criticised Scotland for actually calling them "cheats", saying that should not actually be said and "it's part of the game". Well, if that's true then we might as well allow handball and physical assault in the game, as it's cheating all the same. Rant over, we went back to Scotland with a dissapointing result but looking forward to the next fixture.

Scotland 1-1 Germany: For me, the best performance of the campaign. This was like the spirited and gutsy Scotland performances of the past. Scotland came out at Hampden attacking and looking to fight for a win as a team and a unit. Despite this, first blood went to Germany, with Fredi Bobic heading past Douglas after 22 minutes. After the goal and with the amount of diving and general play-acting by Germany  the Tartan Army in the stands started to get frustrated but nevertheless stayed behind the team. This paid off, with Kenny Miller firing past Oliver Kahn just after half time and sending a near full Hampden wild. Germany continued to dive and cheat but Scotland pkayed football as it should be done and were definately worth the draw, if not all 3 points. A number of German players praised the Tartan Army after the game for having provided such an exciting and intimidating atmosphere and Oliver Kahn, who's even played in the World Cup final said it was the best atmosphere he's played in so....well done, guys!

Lambert wins in the air McCann scores for us v Faroes

Scotland 3-1 Faroe Islands: Scotland now had a make or break chance, before Germany in Dortmund. A chance to punish the team that brought humiliation to the country. And the job was okay - not great, not pish. Scotland got one thing right and that was to go out and fight like warriors against the Islanders from the start. There were only 7 minutes on the clock when McCann scored from a tight angle to put us 1-0 up. This spirit, however, did not continue after this, though and due to Scotland defending too deeply, the Faroes got a deserved equaliser from Johnsson, after a Pressley mistake. After this Scotland didn't look back and scored the second just before half-time, with the controversial Dickov bagging the goal. With the introduction of James McFadden things looked up even more for Scotland and he got on the scoresheet for his first Scotland goal.

Germany 2-1 Scotland: Around 15000 Tartan Army went to Dortmund's Westfalenstadion to cheer on the boys and the performance was not bad. In my view we should have had a penalty in the first minute when Stevie Crawford was brought down when he was 'one on one' with Kahn, but this was waved off. I think the referee had decided only to give the decision if it was a dive, going by some of the dives he gave Germany. Scotland did, however put in a decent performance and were hard done by in the sending off of Mo Ross and the penalty the referee had decided he had to give Germany. Neil McCann pulled a goal back and sent the T.A all over the ground (not just the Scotland end - what a support!) mad. Even with the defeat, the Footsoldiers were immense and I was a bit dissapointed with the German fans who seemed to think they were in a library judging by the noise. Nevertheless, they were through and our best hope was a play off spot (which could only be earned by us beating Lithuania and Iceland not beating Germany).

Scotland 1-0 Lithuania / Germany 3-0 Iceland: So, it was up to us and Germany to sent us to Portugal. And Germany were quick to help. Just after kick-off, when Scotland were putting in a less than convincing performance versus Lithuania, a full Hampden lit up with the news that Germany had gone 1 up against Iceland. On the contrary, Scotland were not threatening and the dangerous Lithuanian counter-attack was always going to be a threat. Scotland defended deeply and the game looked to be heading for an agonising draw, when from the edge of the box shot sub Darren Fletcher into the keeper's far right corner. We went ballistic with the news and the last 21 minutes were extremely long! But we won, Iceland lost and it's the Netherlands in the play-off. C'mon ye Scots!!!!!!

Diver Davids (he even wears goggles to help) loses out to the tireless Paul Dickov the performance - never mind, more time to save for Germany

Scotland 1-0 Netherlands

Half time in the play-off to Portugal and we're in front. A 5* display by a totally commited Scotland players, all giving 100% effort has put us ahead of the arrogant Dutch - now they have to beat us - the pressure's on them. The Dutch barely had time to restyle their quiffs before Scotland came at them with the attacking, skillful play Scotland are starting to deliver. After just a couple of minutes, the Dutch were becoming flustered and as every so-called "world class" team seems to do resorted to diving, with Kluivert getting into the act. The referee, however told them to get up but as far as I was aware a dive's a booking - the ref was quick enough to book McFadden and scandalously Dailly, putting him out of the return game at the Amsterdam ArenA. Scotland, though kept the head and got on with the game and this led to the goal after 21 minutes. A nice one-two between McFadden and Fletchetr led to Fletcher supplying McFadden with a fantastic pass. He went one on one with Van Der Sar and the ball flew past him after a touch off de Boer. Scotland didn't hold back and, despite a number of close chances, forcing Douglas and the crossbar into action, Scotland never made the Dutch players comfortable. This performance was excellent with every player putting in a good shift and giving the pompous Dutch players and media a good kick up the erse and leading to them doing more whinging after them telling us how they just had to show up to beat Scotland. Roll on Wednesday.......C'MOAN SCOTLAND!!!!!!!

Netherlands 6-0 Scotland

Not much to say. We were totally shite. Probably worse than against France. The Faroes? Who knows. Not one player looked intersted in the game and that's what pissed me off. We totally lacked that passion and made no effort to get into the game. My only theory is that we were planning to hold out at first and after losing the goal planned to frustrate and hopefully grab a counter attack. It never worked, though and we got stuffed/outclassed/totally slaughterd, no arguments - we didn'n even deserve a consolation goal. And for all those "fans" who are now not going to support Scotland, are going to totally slag the team and are going to boycott games and stay at home till we next beat someone big  - FUCK OFF! Please just don't come back this time. I'm wearing my Scotland top with pride tomorrow and if anyone turns on the country (yes, the Daily Retard) they can get stuffed! We did well to get to the play-off, after our start to the campaign but turning on the team after the game's only going to help our opposition. We're going to Germany...c'moan Scotland!!! Scottish and proud
